Over a 5 week period the staff at Clwb Llan presented a Summer Activities Programme for the local children of the community.
Given the unprecedented situation we found ourselves in with Covid-19 restrictions, a new ‘model’ needed to be evolved to present this year's Summer Activities . The idea of daily, activity packs and also a packed lunch, came into being . All were provided free of any charge.
Children were invited to sign up for the duration of the project and asked to present daily with a designated adult thus providing the opportunity of social engagement with our staff all be it within restricted distances.
Over the 5 days each week ,the packs were organised under broad address to curriculum areas, with differentiation by age of 3-5, 6-10, 11-16.
Each pack contained all items that would be needed to complete the activity :-
Monday : Craft, Tuesday: Nature & The Environment, Wednesday:Healthy Eating/Cookery, Thursday :Sport / Keeping Healthy, Friday Literacy / Books.
Each child also collected a lunch pack which gave address to any special dietary needs.
A starter pack consisting of various craft items to be needed to support activities , hand sanitizer and logo drink container was given.
Loyalty type cards were a big ‘hit’ with the children, collecting a Clwb Llan stamp each time they attended, with a ‘Goody bag’ given after 10 were collected .
The children were encouraged to send pictures to our Clwb Llan Page , taken whilst doing various activities or end results achieved.
Parents, Guardians and Child Minders were extremely appreciative of not only the daily social engagement but also the structure the activity packs gave to the childrens’ interest and learning at this exceptional period of time.
