Library
The Library Service has teamed up with many committed partners with a fresh approach to deliver the library service right into the heart of the communities of Llanhilleth, Swffryd, Brynithel and Aberbeeg.
The following choices are available for you:
• The local St Marks Church plays host to the library service enabling us to run a mini book loan service from their hall which is opposite the Institute. This is taking place on two mornings each week: Tuesdays 10.00-12.00 and Thursdays 10.00-12.00. Library staff are on hand to loan out books and other popular materials, take requests and offer their usual information service.
• As there is no computer access in the church hall, Llanhilleth Institute staff and Communities First Staff based in the Institute office adjoining St Illtyds Primary School have agreed to support any member of the community who wishes to access the libraries' catalogue and the Gateways to Learning service via a community terminal in their office. They have been trained in both aspects of our service by our Information Librarian. The terminal is available five days a week from Monday to Friday from 10.00 - 12.00 and 2.00 - 4.00 for anyone who wishes to attend.
• The Mobile Library Service - An additional new stop every third Saturday (started on Saturday 18th August) welcomes visitors from 10.00-12.00. The mobile can easily be seen parked in the Institute carpark.
· The home delivery service reports an increase in numbers as readers who had difficulty reaching the library when it was in the Industrial Unit were given the opportunity to register for a home visit by the new Home Delivery Serice which operates across Blaenau Gwent. Anyone interested in receiving this service should phone 01495 355 319 for details
• C2BG (Connect to Blaenau Gwent) - The Blaenau Gwent Outreach Team visits the three community centres accompanied by library staff who are there to help deliver information, to offer a pick up/drop off library point where customers have access to the online library catalogue for placing requests and renewing books:
o Swffryd Community Centre - Mondays 1pm - 3pm
o Brynithel Community Centre - Wednesdays 9am - 11.am
o Cwrt Brachty, Aberbeeg - Fridays 11.30am - 12.30pm
Wherever you choose to access library services, you can be assured of a warm welcome from our staff who will be happy to assist you whatever your enquiry.
