Community engagement is at the core of our business at Llanhilleth Miners Institute. We have worked in partnership with the community and with a range of external organisations to develop a range of projects and services which aim to support the health, well-being, educational, cultural and recreational needs of our local communities, spanning all age ranges and abilities.
Our ongoing and core services include:
A volunteer led café offering freshly prepared meals and light bites and providing training and volunteering opportunities. Internet/computer access, free to the public.
There is a permanent display of artefacts relating to the industrial history of the area and the building itself and seasonal exhibitions/talks for the public.
A weekly clinic is held for parents to seek advice and support.
Running every fourth Monday of the month.
A weekly meeting where you can chat and knit to your heart's content.
Catering for up to 130 guests each month, volunteers provide a 3 course meal and entertainment.
Meeting weekly and the perfect opportunity to dust off your dancing shoes and an excellent way to meet new people and keep fit physically and mentally.
The Institute is a resource for the community and so it is important that local people have an input into the activities/classes that are on offer, therefore we welcome your feedback and suggestions. We are always keen to expand the provision of community services and opportunities we offer. If you would like to see a new activitiy group/class introduced at the Institute then contact us on
